About us:

Indian Auqaf Foundation is a ‘Not for Profit’ organisation being set up to carry forward the implementation of “Bengaluru Declaration on Auqaf in India”.

In order to deliberate on the various issues faced by the Auqaf in the country in the light of the new Waqf Amendment Act 2013 a Two day National Seminar on “AUQAF IN INDIA” was jointly organised by K.K. Educational and Charitable Trust (KKECT), Bengaluru, Institute of Objective Studies (IOS), New Delhi and Karnataka State Board of Auqaf on July 25 – 26, 2015 at Bengaluru. The delegates included chairmen and CEO's of Waqf Boards from states, representatives of the Government of India, Central Waqf Council and NAWADCO, intellectuals, financial expert, Muthavallies of Waqf institutions, Senior legal experts, former Judges and Advocates, Ulema, intellectuals, financial experts, community leaders and media representatives. The delegates after deliberations spread over Three Sessions in Four Groups each for Two days discussing specific issues in depth issued a Bengaluru Declaration on Auqaf in India.  The Declaration in its 17th Point states:

“A National level NGO shall be established to create awareness among the Muslim community and to retrieve the encroached and illegal occupation of Waqf properties and also to assist the Waqf Boards in implementation of the Waqf Act 1995 and to work as a pressure group of the community in Waqf matters. The responsibility to coordinate in forming a National level NGO is entrusted to Dr. K. Rahman Khan.”

Dr. K. Rahman Khan took the initiative and after a brief process of consultations has formed a “Not for Profit” Company “INDIAN AUQAF FOUNDATION”. The organisation has four categories of Memberships i.e. 1) Patron Members (2) Life Members (3) Associate Members (4) Institutional Members and aims to serve through its Regional and State Branches across the Country.

Under the able leadership of Dr. K. Rahman Khan, who has a vast experience and knowledge about the issues faced by the Auqaf with his field experience as a Member of the State Waqf Board as early as 1982, his in-depth study and findings about the issues as Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee, who presented the final report to the Parliament and finally as a Union Minister of Minorities Affairs who ensured that the Waqf Amendment Bill 2013 is passed with the consensus. The organisation aims to work for the Protection, Development and Maintenance of Auqaf in India and to bring the awareness among the Community about the Auqaf and its benefits to the Community under the purview of Waqf Amendment Act 2013 and to encourage the public participation for the protection of Auqaf, as laid down in the Declaration below:.
